Amy at the Junior and Cadet National Championships.

The Cadet and Junior National Table Tennis Championships were held at the Hertfordshire Sports Village in Hatfield on Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th November 2011.

In the Junior event Amy did not make it through the group, which was extremely difficult as Abbie Milwain was the group seed and Naomi Jackson was the 2nd group seed. Amy lost to Abbie in straight sets althought Abbie had some working out to do in the first game which Abbie then won 11-9. Amy took the first game off of Naomi and should have won the second as she was 8-4 up but lost this one 13-11. Naomi still had to fight to win the next two games.

Abbie went on to the finals of the Junior singles and doubles coming second in both events. Well done Abbie.

In the Cadets Amy Humphreys England ranked 12, represented Nottinghamshire and her club Draycott and Long Eaton TTC at the championships. Amy came top of her group by beating the group favourite Ella Patel England ranked 8.

Amy went on to the next round beating Tamworth’s Lauren Evans, to face the England no 2 Maria Tsaptsinos in the quarter finals. Amy took a commanding lead in the first set but was finally defeated by Maria’s experience. Maria went on to win the competition.

Amy also played in the doubles competition with Nicole Bird from Wellingbrough reaching the semi finals of the cadet girls doubles, losing to the eventual winners.
